THE WICKED WHISPERS
When I met The Wicked Whispers they already were a well structured band, with various songs and a great LP already released and also their followers on the psychedelic pop/rock world.
It is always a pleasure when you meet a band and they are all very nice and down to earth. Personally I am not a fan of people which are not down to earth, so meeting the ‘Whispers’ was perfect!
I have been invited sometimes at their rehearsal room that in that time was in a building, in the Baltic area in Liverpool.
I remembered they were playing pretty tight and they were also arranging new tunes which I liked a lot. There is one called ‘If I set you free’ that particularly hit me. I still remember when at The Motor Museum Studio, always in Liverpool, everybody was so amazed and happy when that tune were recorded and most of all how it sounded! I think not one of us expected such a great result, really.
After that I was looking for a collaborator to take care of the promotion of Ocean Waves. One of The Wicked Whispers asked me if he could take that job and so we did it and for a time we worked together at Ocean Waves, always great to work with nice people.
After some time they asked me to record an Ep, we went back to the studio and we did it. There’s a tune called ‘Ripples through time’ which I like the most from the Ep. When I listen to that I totally feel in the Psychedelic pop world and couple of instrumental tunes that does the same effect to me.
Despite even the last work together (Phantom Ep) came out good and the lads were looking fine between each other, I could feel the end of the band in the air. In fact not long later they split, as every band sooner or later does.
This did not stop their musical projects and I know that at least a couple of them are busy with new projects, one as a singer/songwriter called Michael Robert Murphy and the other one playing keys for The Heavy North.
I want to wish the best of luck to them and I am very happy to see that they are going in the right direction.
