Carlo Variola
Carlo Variola’s musical experience began as a composer, singer and guitarist in different bands, playing in various European countries and in Brazil. In 2010 he began to take an interest in music production and in 2011 he enrolled in the SAE school of music production in the city of Liverpool, UK. Once ended the school he founds a music production company called Ocean Waves Productions which also acts as an independent record label.
Over the years he made himself known in Liverpool as an independent producer and began working with various bands in the city of the Beatles, including the band Space, a legend in the city and also known throughout the country and abroad.
In Liverpool he focuses on producing Indie-Rock music but after few years opens to other genres landing also in Jamaica to produce some Reggae.
Due to his passion for mysticism and esotericism, in 2017 he began to think about producing and working with the music of the Afro-Brazilian religion of Candomble with which he has already had contacts since previous years.
In 2020 he starts recording and producing Candomble music in Brazil starting the Ocean Waves Brasil project. He also begins to experiment with the traditional Afro-Brazilian religious music by adding electronics to the typical percussions and chants and involving Djs from different parts of the world to make the project more international and differentiated.
A new chapter opens for Ocean Waves Productions and it is dedicated to the so-called ‘World Music’ with the intention of exploring new sounds and cultures.
