OCEAN WAVES BAND
Ocean Waves Band was born as a collective of reggae, R&B, hip-hop, and funk artists.
The project aims to bring together musicians from a diverse range of backgrounds, collating unique tracks which each tell their own story. Carlo Variola, Founder of Ocean Waves Productions, said that it was his “passion for exploring different cultures and so different musical styles” that led him to kickstart Ocean Waves Band.
The first release of the project was ‘It’s Like’, featuring Garfield Williamson (otherwise known as DJ Swallow). Recorded in Negril in Jamaica, Williamson’s homeland, the single embodies the heart of reggae music, transporting the listener to the sunny shores of the Caribbean island.
The second release was ‘Warning’, a song composed by Lloyd Massett at ‘the house of vibez’ and featuring Suga, a Jamaican singer from Manchester and Manchester’s drummer Danny Ward. The tune’s demo was recorded at ‘the house of vibez’ and then implemented at The Motor Museum Recording Studio.
I had a lot of fun drawing the characters that then were animated to make the video of the song. Until now the project counts two releases but it is opened to produce more songs in the future.
