Maël Chauvet
Born in 1984 in a musician’s familly, Maël Chauvet’s playground is composed by Handpan, Celtic Harp, Turntables, Computer and controllers, and many instruments. Sometimes he dreams about a jam party where Ravi Shankar drink a tea with Dj Shadow, Jan Garbarek, Bonobo, Ballake Sissoko, Marie Boine and Hidden Orchestra.
When he play music, he try to make the soundtrack of this dream.
1984, Maël Chauvet almost born in a recording studio where his parents were recording harp, flutes and analog synths to create experimental celtic music.
He grown in a celtic music univers with many jazz influence, surrounded by all forms of arts as poetry, dance, painting, photography. After learning some basic skills on piano, Maël played Celtic Harp.

In 1998 a friend introduce him to turntables. Exploring the Hip Hop world as well as some electro ways, learning some sound engineer technic, exploring the art of turntablism, sampling, he was always on the look up for new acoustic and electronic sounds.
He sound designed several projects as a Tissot interface for Basel World, 3 web advertising for Honda.ch, and composed, featured, recorded and mixed some albums such as Moving Sands by Myrdhin.
After many connexions and collaborations, he met a friend from Canada and created the band Berry Weight. They win a remix contest of Wax Tailor and were invited to support shows of Wax Tailor like at the Olympia in Paris in 2008.
With a growing and international’s visibility and a independent vision of the music industry, they worked on the creation of Phonosaurus Re- cords, a label launched in 2012 who represent 7 international bands from USA, France, Canada, UK, Danemark with a aim of exploring every sort of art the music can interact with. IT was a very interesting and intense experience, but Maël understood that he his a musician.
At the end of Phonosaurus journey, in 2014, Maël met the HANDPAN. It was a turning back to the acoustic sound.
Since 2016, with the Handpan, he played solo or in bands like Dodjoma or Inqiteka on many festivals and meet the international community of the Handpan.
While learning new skills with workshop like Indian music with Rishab Prassana, he co foun- ded the duo Adag’nan and the quartet Seltawa in 2018 and continue to express deep emotions, good vibrations.
